Timing&Scoring

We are the International Event Timing Association of Las Vegas, Nevada, and we will be providing Timing & Scoring for your events this year.  We have been working since the beginning of the year developing new software and integrating it with your hardware in an effort to provide you accurate and prompt results after each event.

EQUIPMENT

The equipment consists of 4 Arbiter GPS Receiver/Clocks tied to 4 computers to supply extremely accurate Time-of-Day from the U.S. GPS Satellite Network.  A 5th computer is used to provide totally independent, manually generated, average speeds as a back up to the double redundant electronic system.  A GPS synchronized atomic clock with large LED numbers will be on display at the starting line to signal the start of the event for each participant.  Infra-red beams will record car passage at the Finish Line on two additional independently operating computers.  The GPS Time-of-Day is automatically updated from the GPS Receiver/Clocks each time a car starts or passes through the infra-red beam.

SYSTEM OPERATION

As each car is in position, ready to start, the atomic clock will display the accurate GPS time. You will be signaled to start your time at the top or bottom of the next minute. When the clock reaches this time, this is your start time to be recorded by the computer.  YOUR ELAPSED TIME HAS BEGUN!

At the Finish Line, the GPS Time-of-Day will be recorded by the breaking of the infra-red beam.  The precise location of the infra-red emitters will be clearly marked with large red traffic cones at the Finish Line Banner, Mile Marker 7, in Lincoln County.

The start and finish times will be automatically computed to provide the elapsed time, average speed, and variance for each participant.

RESTART PROCEDURE

In the unlikely event that the event has to be stopped, your are to stop immediately at any checkpoint displaying a red flag.  Before the event is restarted, you will be directed by Check Point Officials to proceed south to either Check Point #3 or Check Point #6.  When all participants are in position at Check Point #3 and #6 the event will be restarted in the order in which the participants arrived.  It is imperative that no passing occurs while in transit.  Before you restart, your restart time  (time-of-day)  will be written on your timing card by the Timing Official. You will be flagged off  at that precise time. For the purpose of computing average  speed, Check Point #3 is at 30.20 miles, and Check Point #6 is at 57.40 miles from the Start Line. Your average speed will be computed  using only the legs which you completed at event speed.

COMMITMENT

It is our goal to provide accurate timing and timely results to all participants of the Silver State Classic Challenge series of open road events.  However, should you feel that an error has been made, the normal protest procedures for SSCC events also apply to disputes regarding Timing & Scoring Results.  We will diligently investigate all protests which are properly filed and report back to the Event Director in a timely manner.

We hope that our efforts will make these events even more enjoyable for all participants.
