    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

“SILVER STATE CLASSIC SOLD OUT!”

The White Pine County Chamber of Commerce and Silver State Classic Challenge, Inc. today announced that the May Event has sold out over one month before it is to be held on State Route #318 between Lund and Hiko.   Phil Henry, VP of Marketing for SSCC stated: “We are really excited about the popularity that our events have come to enjoy.  We hate to have to turn people away, so we are encouraging them to enter our event in September.”  Henry went on to say: “We already have nearly 75 reservations for the September Event and we are confident that it will be sold out as well.”.

It is expected that this will have a major economic impact on Ely and White Pine County as the May event already has over 220 entries.  This will fill almost every hotel and motel room in Ely and may cause service delays at eating establishments throughout the area.  The Chamber of Commerce is encouraging all restaurant owners to have extra staff available on Friday and Saturday, May 19th and 20th as well as staying open later on these dates.

This year the Chamber of Commerce is also pleased to announce that there will be a fair at Broadbent Park along with the traditional SSCC Car Show.  So far 15 businesses and groups have signed up for booth space offering a wide variety of food items, beverages and merchandise.  SSCC has also contracted for entertainment during the Car Show including the White Pine Community Choir, the White Pine High School Color Guard, and the Silver

Eagle Dancers.  They will also be hiring local talent provided by Ely Music for the reception at the Bristlecone Convention Center on Friday night right after the Parade of Cars down Main Street which takes place at 5:00 PM.  Everyone in Ely is encouraged to come out right after work to see all the race cars in action.   Local students will be vying for a chance to ride in the race cars during the Parade.

Many of these activities are a part SSCC’s new program to give back to the community and share their success with the local businesses and residents of Ely and White Pine County.  “We owe our current success in large part to the business people and residents of White Pine County who have supported us with their time and effort as well as financially in the years when we were struggling to keep the events going, and now it is our turn to support them”, said Phil Henry.

Starting this year SSCC is picking up half of the cost of printing a Event Program which will appear in the Friday edition of the Ely Daily Times before each event.  Extra copies will be available at Broadbent Park on Saturday during the Car Show to better inform the participants and local residents of all the activities that will be taking place during the event weekend.

There is still time for local businesses to become sponsors of the event.  There is no cost, all you have to do is offer some special benefit to the racers while they are here.  You will get an Official Sponsor sign to put in your window and a free listing on the SSCC website.  All interested businesses should contact the White Pine Chamber of Commerce.

Traditionally, the racers, including any celebrities which often times attend, are available to mingle with local residents throughout the weekend and everyone is invited to come out and enjoy themselves.
